I'd like to install a room thermostat.

I have a Vaillant Thermocompact boiler that is currently controlled with a Drayton Lifestyle LP522 programmer.

I have looked into doing this but I have 1 question:

If I purchase say a basic 3 wire connection Vaillant VRT 30 can I connect that direct to the Boiler or will it need to connect to the Drayton Lifestyle LP522 programmer to work in conjunction with it?

i would just buy a drayton room thermostat and wire that in from the clock CH on>stat>boiler

That was my plan if it needs to be connected to the Drayton as the wiring is easier. I think I'll go with the Drayton then I shouldn't need to touch the boiler just wire the thermostat into the LWC3 box as instructed. Right?
