It sounds like a jet taking off! so its goosed, reckon I get an external 1 or internal? seen internals for £18 delivered on Ebay WITH lightscribe....is it worth me getting this?how do I know which 1 will fit my laptop?will have model number of it later, can any1 help?! or shall I just get an external 1?!

I think you'll need one that is for your model/make esp if its dell. Dunno if a universal one will fit the shape/size of the cut out in your lappy. However, this is based on my findings from a 6odd year old laptop. They could have universal designs now.

OK, I will look into it a bit more, its a compaq with vista so prob around 3 years old?! I bought it second hand so no idea how old it is. Id like lightscribe cos I do djing so labelling CDS would be cool!

I got a brand new external DVDRW off ebay for my netbook for £8 delivered Works a treat!

pretty much 90% of slim drives out of laptops are the same and work in different laptops much cheaper to get a second hand one and replace it, just change the bezel off the front of the drive pop it back in should only be one screw holding it in place! any help u2u me

I wouldn't bother specially looking for one with lightscribe as its rubbish because the dvds are much dearer and the result is shit anyway, if you label them just get a label print set for about £8 in tesco.

Agreed, lightscribe is a feature you'll use once for kicks then probably never again.

Fixed it! was just 1 screw, removed the drive and metal housing, bent it in to place and works fine now. cheers

Must admit Ive got Lightscribe on my computer and it takes an age to do it, and ive only got black and white, but you can get colour nowadays, but as said they are expensive discs compared
