Just made this thread but didnt show up  sorry if its here twice. . .
Am i right in thinking that an F20 is the ideal gearbox for the xe but the F16 is ok just gives better acceleration? and the F16cr is the best as its stronger compared to the F16? thanks

f20 is the best box in an XE, f16 claim to have better acceleration but i see that as ballocks. F18 is a long ratio box that can also be fitted.

why wouldnt the F16 be better acceleration? surely it will have shorter ratios? But F20 is the best box?

i've been in cars with an f16, and raced a few on 1/4 miles. Not once have i seen the f16 box better the f20. It's one of them carparks myths if you ask me.

got to agree, maybe in the heavier cars the f16 seems faster but ive had both f16 and f20s fitted to xe corsas and never noticed it being any quicker off the line, the one thing ill give the f16 is that alot of them come ready to take the electric speedo rather then the mechanical system that most f20's have but thats about it

Ok thanks, just i found an engine but its got the F16cr box on it, wil just have to source an F20 their not that expensive if i remember correctly. thanks for the advice
