I'm struggling to get the corsa into 1st , second and sometimes reverse, mostly 1st, is this a problem with gearbox or what?
I have no idea lol it makes knocking noise aswell when you change gear to.
Is the gears out of sinq somewhere?

Have you noticed the clutch pedal sitting higher than it usually is?
On my old XE i had to keep readjusting it as getting it into first sometimes was nigh on impossible, when i checked closer the arm the clutch cable is attached to on the gearbox was snapping

Has the linkage ever been done on your car under recall / warranty Phi? The pre facelift ones were prone to playing up and were upgraded with a metal one as used in the post facelift ones.

I'd put money on there being a problem with the linkage. Impossible to say if it's worn bushes or a misaligned selector without having a look at it though...

yeah same problem as i had i was struggling to get in to 2nd when coming from 3rd gear and some times 1st gear aswell then i went on ebay and somebody was selling a genuine gearlinkage i got it for £20 (vauxhalls are £55)
i did eventally loose 1st, 2nd and reverse , so i got my gearlinkage fitting and its perfect now
yours is the preface version isnt it they are a common problem on them

It could be the plastic bit of linkage on the box or the gears might just need setting again

The part that goes wrong is the bearing on the pivot. That's mounted to the rear gearbox mount IIRC. The amount of play to get it to stop working is pretty small so I'm not too sure if there will be anything to see, especially as it's quite well hidden!

ohh okay, well payday next week, will have it fixed! defnitely sounds like thats the problem !
my car is low mileage for its ages and the woman before who owned it took it to vaux for everythign , even to have the rubber pad on the pedal put back on
so maybe if i read through the paperwork this was probably changed.... wel at least its something simple... phheewww

It died gear linkage went, as I was pulling out of a junction on to a busy road on a hill. :/ luckily at night not in rush hour....
Clutch stunk!!!
I hope it's not broked and it's just a case of adjusting that gear linkage , ahhhhh

gear linkage very common fault
they do a upgrade part fix
or
a full replacement for the money it costs for the upgraded part i would suggest you go with a complete new linkage

Why don't you just get Rich to adjust it.
Your not gonna do it yourself are you. Might break a nail
