Been using my memory stick with no problems and just tried it in my laptop to save some work and it wont let me open it and says it needs formatting. When I click to format it says ALL data will be deleted off the drive which I really dont want to do because I have alot of work on it.
Any ideas?

Back it up onto another computer before formatting it?
This is what happens when you don't 'safely remove' devices before un plugging them.

On my phone ATM so can't provide any links, but google will toss up some useful info on how get the non-corrupted data back.

Have you got access to another system? If so try it in that and backup the data. Then format it.
Otherwise get something like > GetDataBack for FAT < (can get it from any dodgy store) and then run (it's fairly straight forward) it on the USB stick.
