I currently have XP Home on my laptop, but i need XP Pro to install a program (Rockwell Automaton RSLinx Classic). I dont really want to reinstall windows as i cba to back up then restore all files and programs etc. However i have found this guide which seems to "pretend" Windows XP Pro is installed. Anyone know if this actually works and if RSLinx will then see it as Pro and install.

It will work.
Can you partition a drive if it doesn't? Ball ache, but would save you reinstalling everything.

Dual Boot as already stated by Alex, purchase an upgrade CD or virtualize using VMWare or Virtual PC.

I could make a dual boot i suppose. Ill try the guide later, see what happens. I did think about using Virtual PC, but the software needs access to the Serial port (USB jobbie), i didnt think Virtual PC's could access "real" ports???

I've not played with Vmware much, but i'm guessing you'll be able to use the ports..
Give it a go through VMware, if it doesn't work try dual boot, don't lose anything trying
This guide looks as though you can have up to 2, 1.1 usb ports.

Half of google say you can't, half say you can, just give it a go I guess.

vmware is easy to setup and works like a charm, I often use to install stuff I cant use on 7. also open possible infected files with it.U can choose what hardware you want available to each OS

VMware will NEVER work on an NC10.
You'd be better off partitioning the hard drive

The NC10 isn't capable of virtualisation, that Atom processor doesn't support it

Doesn't matter now, version 2.43 installs on home v2.50 doesn't. There's no different in versions.so I'll just Hyde the order one. Cheers for the advice though.
