Ive connected my Desire to computer via the USB cable and nothing happens in the "connect to pc" menu default connection type is "Disk Drive" and "Ask Me" is selected. When i connect it up, all it does is charge the battery. A new drive (D:\) shows up in explorer as a remove disk drive, but when i click on it, it says "please insert a disk into the drive". I have the SD card in the phone.

You know your pull down menu at the top?
Slide that down & there will be one for disk drive. That should allow you to view the file folders & install the software that's pre installed on the memory card
