the sub is only available as a dual 4. So the amp would need to be 250RMS @ 2 ohms. Either that or they are actually 400 RMS subs, but can take more. So find out how powerful the amp is @ 2 ohms. I would imagine they are 150RMS approx if they are 250RMS @ 1 ohm. Or, WHAT AMP IS IT?

Thanks Ian for posting for me
Right I am still trying to get my head around this dual voice coil business.
So with it being DVC does that mean that I can use my 2 PG Tantrum 250.2's bridged to 1 * 250W RMS each? I.e one powering one voice coil and one powering the other.
Also I've forgetten all about the Ohm business. The Amps say that they run at 1* 250W RMS @ 4 Ohm. So if I did use my two amps would that put a 8 Ohm load on the sub? If so would that kill it? (I can't remember sorry )

No, your amp is 250RMS x 1 @ 4Ohms bridged. Each voice coil on the JLW6V2's are 4Ohms. So with one sub, which has two voice coils, youd bridge the amp into a single channel onto one coil and do the same with the other amp/voice coil. Each amp would thus be seeing a 4 ohm load. Ultim8DTM5, I dont think he really wants to spend that much, and those amps wouldnt really power it very well would they.
But they are nice subs

So it would be Ok to run the 2 amps like I am on about doing?
How much am I looking at paying for one then?
Do you recommend the 10" or the 12"?
Oh yeah I've got a 12W7 sitting in my room at the moment that I was going to put in my car

Right, sell your amps and get an 800RMS @ 4Ohm amp. A phoenix gold QX900.1 is 1100 x 1 @ 2 Ohms. These can be picked up for around £350 and are exactly what you want, sell the tantrums and buy the QX.

Unless you could daisy chain the PG amps, which I don't think is possible, I wouldn't advise it. Time to upgrade amps! Not to mention the amps smoking from not being 1 or even 2 ohm stable...

I'm using a 10W7 as a paperweight haha, its a SVC just like the 12, but the 13 is DVC. I would advise upgrading your amps or using them elsewhere such as front/rear duties. For the 10 and the 12 a JL 500/1 will be ample and go nicely. For the 13W7, same amp will be fine, however to max potential look at the 1000/1. My advice would be keep the 12W7 and upgrade the amplifier(s).
Good luck!

Shame you have to step down from Tantrum to QX which I don't advise, however, the QX series are being replaced so you could strike up a deal. For the awesome $/W ratio, you can do a lot worse than Phoenix Gold!

Ok, if you were to purchase 2 x 12/10 W6V2, which are only available in Dual 4ohm Voice coils. Then the following would be true.
If one amp would be powering both then it could only run them at either a 1ohm, 4 ohm. Unless you have an amplifier which will run higher than 14ohm!
You CANNOT run 4 x 4ohm voicecoils at 2ohm. As running them parallel would produce a 1ohm load, and running them in series/parallel would produce a 4ohm load.
Therefore, you would need and amplifier which would produce the recommended 900RMS at either 1 or 4ohms.
Amp's which spring to mind. JL 1000/1, Tantrum 1200/1, Genesis Profile Sub, and.. although I dare to say it.... Vibe VP4.
