Hi,

I have a 58' plate Corsa D. 1.3 cdti. It's a driving school car and has just passed 68,000 miles. I have just had a whole new clutch system fitted as 3rd gear would not always engage. I was advised by the garage that my Clutch Mass, fly wheel and clutch plates were knackered. However after having this fitted the problem is still there. Now I am having problems selecting 1st gear. There is also a whinging noise which disappears when I clutch down. My mechanic was convinced it was the clutch system but thinks it may now be the Gear Selector Linkage. Does anyone have any ideas.

My gearbox just gave out on me and that developed a whine (lasted about 18 months like that) but it was more noticeable in low gears for me

i would say gearbox is goosed, probably caused by dmf failure

I think the replaced that when they did the clutch. It's back in the garage now. Having real trouble getting first. When it does go in it feels spongy (if that makes any sense) I don't have trouble myself getting into 3rd when I drive it just a couple of my students. Bloody cars, It's true what they say about your hands are never out of your pockets when you own a car.
