Driving along today at 70... looked up n my oil pressure has dropped to jus over 3 bar (usually sits jus under 4 when warm n driving at this speed)
Stopped in a layby, and as it went down to idle the oil pressure dropped down to just over 2 bar.
At warm idle the pressure normally sits between 3 - 3.5bar depending on how hot it is.
Stopped the engine, restarted it again about a minute later and pressure back up 2 normal!

Did it again a few hours later while it was hot and i was parking up, hasnt done it again on the journey home.

Oil level is fine.... could this b something up with the pressure relief valve?

oil pressure should be around 1.5 bar at idle once warm anyway

On the C20XE? Thought it was the X20XEV that ran that sorta pressure at idle

yeah xe is about 1.5 on warm idle

Soo it could well be the sensor is giving dodgy readings in that case? lol

Or maybe you've got a dodgey relief valve or perhaps a weak oil pump.

Surely when an oil pump goes tho it drops pressure and it stays low? It dropped but then went back up after being restarted both times

Mine, at warm, idles at 2bar, and sits at 3.5-4.5 under load. Blow of valve kicks in at 5.5bar

similar to seans just idles at just over 1.5 bar.
