I have recently had an engine change on my x14xe to an x16xe
As far as i'm aware everything has been swapped over correctly and the car runs great except that it limits just shy of 5000revs :/
The EGR valve has been taken out and blanked too, a friend of mine beleives that the ecu may have gone into "limp" mode because of this, how would i know if this was the case and what could i do to fix it?
Tomorow im going to be taking the car back to my mates garage to have a look at wh could be causing it, any ideas on what i should be looking for would be greatly apreciated

oh and the ECU has been changed over along with chip and transponder

No, a CPS failure would see no spark or fuel.

exactly that, your options are to paperclip or get a diagnostics done for the fault.

Most people leave the EGR valve still plugged in but blanked off.
This may be the cause of your problems.

most probably be knock sensor its down the back of the engine below the inlet. anything else would make it run like shite

thanks guys, yer i've also heard that it's possible that i may have the wrong ecu
the ecu is from a 1.6 tigra with a part number of 16213739, looking on the net they used this ecu from 95-97 for both the corsa and the tigra x16xe engines
whereas the the 1.6 ecu used in the corsa and the tigra from 97 has a part number of 16214249?
my car was made in 99, not aware of the year of the engine though
would this mean anything?
very confused haha

Have you tried with the EGR plugged back in? Mine was blanked but still plugged in and my EML still used to come on after a while

mates car was doin this a while ago when we had the inlet and piping off, there was a connector at the bk of the engine bay behind the inlet manifold tht we forgot to reconnect after and was causin a very early rev limit, hope this helps.
