I have a 16GB Galaxy S on Vodafone. Fantastic phone, bigger and more advanced screen that the HTC (or iPhone4 for that matter), better graphics chip, more memory etc and look much cooler. Plus it's the newer phone, only just released etc.

Oh, and Samsung have announced that the Galaxy S will be receiving an automatic Android 2.2 FroYo update very soon... HTC are historically very slow releasing updates.

HTC don't take that long, networks do.
The screen on the iphone is higher res than the galaxy even if the galaxy screen is slightly bigger.
I'd go for the desire.

Galaxy S screen is not only bigger but more advanced, Super AMOLED rather than old-tech LCD on the iPhone4.
The Samsung is the more powerful phone. Simples.

Without going on Wikipedia, tell me what an AMOLED screen is. Also, the iPhone screen is something like 300dpi, so even if it is LCD it's nicer to look at.

Although I take any opportunity to have a dig at the iphone, the screen the iphone is better than the samsung.
Do you know what makes AMOLED superior or was that just what they told you when conning you into the phone?

You do make me chuckle John.
The iPhone has a higher res screen yes, granted. However, it's also thicker due to the need for a backlight. It uses more energy because of the backlight. And the black/white contrast isn't as sharp as a Super AMOLED screen because of the need for a backlight.
The only reason the iPhone4 hasn't got an S-AMOLED screen is becaue Apple couldn't make one / buy one in. The next gen iPhone will almost certainly have a S-AMOLED.
But hey, it's not an Apple, therefore it must be inferior!

You've obviously not seen any of my previous posts in here.
Engadget have done a side by side comparison.
There's not much between them, so the higher res wins.
Again, do you have any reason for it being superior?

The iPhone 4 is thinner than a Samsung Galaxy.
