am sure you can get something off adobe site, i have something installed and i select the PDF picture like its a printer, print to pdf type thing

That's the reader Jim.

I think the software for writing it called Adobe Distiller and it's not free.

I use Open Office and there is a plug in available to create and edit PDFs.

It's not perfect for editing them, but it's free.

For printing pdfs out of Word and Excel and stuff there are loads of free PDF printers available.

Otherwise you need Photoshop, Acrobat or Distiller, all (should be) paid for.

If you're wanting to convert a document to PDF you can use something like Google Docs
