You won't be able to use OS X Snow Leopard & newer on that as that has a PowerPC CPU not an Intel.

I didnt know if it was worth a look as i'm after a system that can deal with large amounts of photo / graphics editing for around £400.

Recommend any alternative for around £400? I've looked all over the net, wouldnt mind an i5 with a good wad of RAM, HDD space not a massive issue as everything will be saved externally.

If you want a fairly heavy duty future-proof Mac desktop, then you need to look at the Mac Pro.
Cheapest one on eBay (second-hand) I've seen is £990.00:
MAC PRO 2.66GHZ
Scrumpy Macs also do one (next price up) at £1145:
APPLE INTEL MAC PRO 2.66 / 4GB / 1TB
There's always the Mac Mini which is more nearer your price range, obviously won't be a beast like the Mac Pro but should do the job? This example is £569.99:
Apple Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz 320GB HDD 2GB RAM

It's a bottom end 2004 G5 and i doubt it'll be able to handle much now. If you want a G5 power mac then i would opt for one of the later 2005 models, preferable hold out for the 2.5GHz quad or at least the 2.3 dual versions. Load it up with ram (stupidly expensive now unfortunately) and it'll be ok for Photoshoping.
Otherwise a year or two old mac mini would be in your price range (just) which will be handle Photoshop, although you'll be limited on the ram side of things (again ram isn't cheap).
Another option is to go for a PC where £400 would get your a reasonable spec. Potentially you could hackintosh it if you desperately wanted OSX.
