I'm currently doing a bit of computer work for a small company, i'm still learning the more advanced side of technical work e.g networking. I find myself visiting a lot of customers houses and fixing the fault within 5minutes as its a simple windows issue ( including things such as " theres no volume " and mute is ticked ), is there a software available ( free or chargeable ) that could simply allow me to connect to the customers computer and take control of there machine and fix the issue for them while they watch?

Probably not something my company would go for but i'm curious as it'd save a lot of money in travel costs! I seem to remember MSN Messenger had a similar function, but obviously not every customer will have an MSN account and it wouldn't be the best way to go about it from a customer service point of view.

Cheers.

Thanks Rich, i'll take a look. Is that an application that the client would also have to download and install or does it work another way?

Yeh that's the only thing, the client's PC would need to have it installed on there, then you can just log in from the log me in site.

It's very straight forward to install though - even for a noobie imo.

The other one I've used before is TeamViewer

LogMeIn rescue is pretty good, if your looking for free, Skype does a screen watching program so you could guide your customers about on the phone if you want.

I've got VNC setup on my Grans computer through a dynamic DNS host so I can help her remotely when she calls me!

Log Me In I have found to be great - purely because you don't need to go messing around with router firewalls etc.

Our company (RM) uses Logmein Pro to work on computers and servers all over the world. I use it for my job (supporting many different networks where i live), and it works great.

If your customers are on Windows XP and above machines you can use remote assistance. No idea if it's any good though...
