Ideally been looking for a house to rent, but we're really struggling to find something in the right area that's nice enough (mainly kitchen & bathroom i'm concerned about in that respect) so we thought we'd have a gander at this place. It's brilliant, great views, absolutely huge for a flat (it's the complete toop floor), the 4 main rooms are all 17ft square, it's nicely refurbished, fitted kitchen and I literally wouldn't have to touch the decoration. We get Sky+ and BB thrown in too. The only issue is obviously no garden (communal isn't the same) and potentially dodgy neighbours. I'm seriously considering it, think I might go and knock at the residents of the 1st floor and see what they are like.
Itching to get moved out again, hope I'm not being too hasty though

If you want a house get a house tbh.
Why not find something that needs a new kitchen/bathroom and try to negotiate either the landlord pays, or a rent free period where you pay for the work up front but get 3 months free or something.
A lot of landlords are quite open to offers like that.

Never heard of that before? Would you just approach the estate agent with the offer?!

Yep. Work out the cost of a kitchen roughly and offer as many months rent free as it will cost you. Can only say no.

The missus is coming round to the idea too, although she's scared of the little 'snugs' at the top of both of the spiral staircases, you know in-case anyone breaks in and hides in there

Yeah we've decided to go for it, going to be a bit of a stretch but it'll save us on Taxi's when we go for a night out down the front
I'd also hope that the money they are spending will revive the area a bit as well.

Got an appointment with estate agents in the morning to get application sorted. Just looking at Sofa's at the moment, ideally need one within 4 weeks or so any recommendations (looking for a decent leather corner until with free interest).

The middle aged fella I spoke to on the bottom floor (directly underneath our closest neighbours) said he hadn't had any problems!
RJ's isn't going anymore, and I haven't stepped foot in the 'Playas lounge' in about a year. I do sometimes go to talulla's for a cheap night out though

Put application in first thing on Saturday morning. Little bit worried as the advert has had a 'Let agreed' banner on it since yesetrday.... I hope it is referring to me or i've been done for £120
The agents seemed pretty sound, talking like it was ours etc so fingers crossed!

Looks a nice place that
Be warned though, spiral staircases are a massive pain in the arse to get anything up them

Aye, we rejected a few houses when we were looking to buy simply because of this feature, im not one of those types that appreciates 'against the grain' features of properties, I prefer simple and basic, much easier to work with.
As for sofa's, we got ours from CSL - showrooms seem a much nicer and relaxed place to be than the likes of DFS / SCS, where the salesman are literally hounding you every time you try a sofa out

Thanks chaps I spoke to the agents yesterday and i'm the only the only one with an application in, sweat over.
The spiral staircases are a bit pointless really, they both lead to two tiny 'rooms' that wouldn't fit anything big in anyway, so the missus will probably just use them to store shoes in
I found CSL ok too when looking around about a month ago, but i'm really in need of something they can dliver quickly or it's beanbags for 6+ weeks!
Also on the look out for a nice desk...
