Looking to put my tv ontop of a chest of draws when they arrive but there is no where to put my Sky+ box And dvd player.

if i put these in one of the draws will the remotes still work throught the wood draw fronts?

unless your draws have slats to let the infra red light from your remote through to the reciever, then no.. it wont work.. heres a test you can do.. place a solid object .. for example.. your hand, infront of the remote's infra red imitter and try changing channels

also, from past experience.. sky box's and dvd players dont tend to get switched off.. and electrical items that arent switched off usualy get very warm.
i dont think putting very warm electrical items in an enclosed space with no ventilation is a great idea

can you buy anything to make it work? i was going to leave the backs open to let the heat out like i have done with my current shelving and never had a problem with them.

Buy an IR Extender kit. There's a receiver just to the left of the stand the TV is sitting on, which hooks up to the sticky pad over the IR receiver on the box... hey presto, IR works "through" wood:

I have a similar setup, magic eye is what you need if it's just for sky
