I run a letting agency in Manchester - http://www.manchesterpropertygroup.co.uk - and to cut a long story short i'm looking for someone to beef up the seo work offsite - links etc. I've done a bit myself but know it'll take a hell of a lot more to help me get closer to the first page on the search engines. We were on page 25 around 4/5 months ago, now on page 3/4 so it's going the right way.
Any tips, advice or does anyone do this? Get approached by seo companies pretty often but they're always quoting mad prices just for outsourcing to India etc.

Just ran it through here: http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html
Few things, but not a biggy.
Keywords meta tag is too long.
This tag contains 549 characters. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' keywords tag. The maximum number of characters we recommend for this tag is 500.

I could apply the basic SEO rules to your site, but I couldn't make a guarantee on how far up the search result pages you'd go. I know some SEO companies do make certain claims about being able to get you to the top of Google but they're either lying or spamming from what I've read.
If you're interested then drop me an e-mail on e.coleridgesmith@ecsid.co.uk and try and let me know as much as you can about your site setup and how it all works

Cheers for the replies! I'll run the meta tag issues by the web designer and see what I can do. I'm trying to make the most of google places too, they seem to dominate the first page now. I'm moving to a more central postcode in the next few weeks so that should help get me further up the organic place results rather than relying on the sponsored ones.
Ed - i'm looking mostly to increase the number of links, I already have a blog and have posted a few articles but it needs to be done on more of a mass scale.
