What site is best to use and how do I do it?
I went on piratebay, installed Miro like it says, couldn't get it to subscribe. Already got Vuze so I tried using that. It showed up in Vuze as downloading but nothing was happening. I tried 2 or 3 different torrents and it was the same so think I'm doing something wrong

Is there any way of knowing which torrents are going to be quick to download? Or do you just have to keep trying them

on kickasstorrents and iso hunt its shows you the amount of seeds that have that torrent, basically the more people (seeds)that have it the quicker it will download.

And the faster the authorities will come knocking at your door when you re-upload something they are tracking

I got something downloading, I just went for a SD film for now to see if it works. 700MB file size and it's been going an hour now and reckon its got another 4 hours to go
Maybe this is my internet speed thats the problem

I have always found http://torrentz.eu/search is best for finding torrents then use utorrent to d/l them. I usually max out around 3meg/sec on a single torrent, but if i have a few on the go i easily see 6.6meg/sec d/l and i seed at 800k/sec
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Got The Mechanic downloaded. Took about 5 hours and it's only in SD too.
My internet has gone right down the pan recently, was at 6-7MB but now i'm struggling to get 2MB
I'm guessing from the amount of people that seem to download like this that I shouldn't be too worried about the legal side?

isohunt is good I've heard.
Your provider might be automatically restricting your bandwidth if they detect you've downloaded quite a bit. Not a biggie, but a pain.

It's been a bit crap before I did this TBH. I've only downloaded one film so far and that was today.
How long does it take other people to download an average size film?

Bung stuff on overnight.
I seem to remember Virgin have soft caps for volume in a short period. ie. 6gb in 4 hours is too much etc etc. Might be making that up though

That's what I'm going to have to do, leave it on over night.
I'm with BT for broadband. Wonder if there is anything I can do to speed it up. Like I say it used to be 6-7MB

Normally takes me about an hour or less for a 1.3gb film. My d/l speed is about 3-4meg here.

Quite often you need to set up port forwarding for the torrent client on your router for it to run at maximum D/L speed.
Google 'Port Forwarding for X router for X programme'

Nothing is wrong, the leech to seed ratio is probably very poor.
Public torrents annoy me.

A lot of ISPs either throttle torrents totally or just during peak times. I always have mine scheduled to download overnight and they're always done in the morning.

Will leave it on over night. The one I'm downloading now is at a mighty 20kb/s at the moment

I can do a 1 gig film in about 10 mins. That is from 3.6mb/s download. I have 50meg cable broadband with virgin.
just did a speed test now
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

That's awesome Ste!
Left it on over night and it did a 700MB film in about 4 hours and a 1.4GB film in about 5.5 hours Guess it doesn't matter so much if I'm leaving it on over night but I'd quite like to download HD films but that would take far too long at this speed.

Go on speedtest.net and see what speeds you're getting from a proper(ish) source.
