Right, Bought a Laptop 2 years ago with windows 7 on it.

Didn't like it so my dad installed windows XP on it.
That required the hidded partition removed.

Now I want to have the 64bit windows so I can have 8GB RAM instead of 3 I have now...

Currently running 32-bit XP. Reading online it seems that I have to format my hard drive and boot from 64bit cd.

So i am trying to get hold of Acer Windows 7 CD.

I looked all through Acer website and american website offers to buy a CD online, but it doesn't recognise my laptop due to it being a UK one.

UK website doesn't seem to offer this.

Is there anything else I can do before I give up?
Would acer sell me a CD if i were to provide them with the Windows serial number of my laptop?

Give them a call and ask on Monday.

Majority of laptops these days only ship with the restore partition and no discs to save on cost, sometimes there is an option to make your own backup discs via a program pre-installed on Windows but this doesn't obviously apply to you any more.

Alternatively, borrow a Windows 7 64-bit DVD from someone and install using the license key on the base of your laptop.

Why do yo uneed an Acer CD? Get hold of a copy of 64bit Windows 7 and install it and then in general you can download the drivers required from the manufacturers website.

Yes it will.

Enter the product key as normal during installation and then use the phone activation method when installation has finished.

In XP I've always just used the MS Product Key Update Tool for doing the above.
