Im trying to find a resistor that will turn off my airbag lights since iv unplugged my pretensioners

the official ones from steering wheel suppliers etc use a 2.2 ohm 0.5watt resistor

i have tried a 2.2 ohm 3 watt resistor, that didnt work

would the watt make a difference?

Are you sure you used the right resistance?

The one you posted in that numbers thread was completely wrong.

yeah they are deffo 2.2ohm, thats the resistance isnt it?

the only diff between my ones and the ones that work is the wattage but i dunno if that would make a diff

Wattage is how much heat it can dissipate, shouldn't affect what you want to do.

Why do you need the light out steve? Just take the cluster out and sort it that way

It shouldn't make much odds although tolerance could be an issue so that might be worth checking. Are you simply adding resistance to two pins/lines? Sure you that it is 2.2ohms that it needs to 'see'?

well 2.2 ohms is what was supplied by a steering wheel company that some guy has put on his puma and that works

i measured the resistance across the pre tensioners and it was about 1.8 ohms

You're bodging some resistors in to trick the light into going off, that's not properly either

If anything, removing the bulb is the better option as it breaks the circuit completely rather than just preventing the current from flowing.

i say properly because it still maintains the correct light sequence

which by all accounts apparently isnt an mot fail if its not correct, but i cba with questioning come mot time

but yeah light removal is a last resort option

Airbag light on is only an advisory though iirc, if its not there at all they won't pick up on it.

Cant you plug in the pretensioners again then test the resistance across them?

THen you'll know exactly what you need

So someone has managed to bridge what ever pins needs on the pretensioners using a 2.2ohm .5w resistor? If you can, find out what the tolerance of that resistor is/was because wattage shouldn't matter (from what i remember of electronic classes back in school). Only thing i can suggest is to purchase 0.5w resistor, still odd though
