Author speedo is not working, but rest of dials are, any ideas why?

most probably something obvious such as fuse, but ideas why?

Check fuses, if not then the sensor is most likley at fault if its elec driven.

What age, spec and engine is it?

Gearbox speed sensor prob. Unless they are on cable? They check that

Fuse 1, 17 or 18.

There's other stuff on them as well that would cause it, not necessarily the speedo.
