Couple of faults with my XE thats shouting ICV to me.
1st off all, when I start it up when its cold I have to keep revving it to stop it from cutting out, but when its warm it ticks over fine and starts without dieing.
Also when you rev it, its very slow at coming down the rev range sometimes, but other times its fine.
Does that sound like the ICV?

Would the AFM not bring on the EML?, although I'm not 100% if the bulb works

Sometimes but ive found before if the afms a bit dodgy it doesnt always bring the light on
check the light comes on with ignition first though to see if it does work

Changed the bulb today and we have a EML on. Didn't get a chance to flash the code though so will do that tomorrow probs.

Nope, I was going to clean it but just wondered if someone would know straight away what the fault was by the symptoms. I'll give the ICV a clean and flash the code tomorrow.
