Right......
I am with Sky for broadband.
I live in a flat and have a chap above who i think is a computer nut/boffin.
Is it poss that he can "interupt" out internet connection?
Reason i say this is that when he is away (2weeks at a time) our net is fine, But as soon as he is back it keeps going down!
Just now i have been on Fifa online and had the radio on (again online) and loosing connection?
IS IT HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMM

He couldn't stop it but he could use so much of it that it stops you from using it.
Is the wireless secured?

Some AP's have an option to disconnect a device, so he could be kicking you off!
Your router web management page will have a section somewhere telling you what devices are connected. (usually listed by MAC address).
If there is anything on there which isn't yours - then it could well be him.
Make sure it's secured!

Yeah I was assuming the router itself was secure even if the connection isn't.
If he's got access to the router then yeah, could disconnect you from it.

Is a wep key secure? I can see other routers but if click on them it asks for a password

It could also be that his router is on the same channel and he's not a boffin at all.
WEP isn't secure at all if he owns a copy of the internet. Probably does his dodgy browsing on your connection.

WEP is about as secure as leaving your front door slightly ajar.
Get it changed to WPA2 immediately and let us know how you get on.
I'm with Sky as well so if your router has the same IP address then it's http://192.168.0.1 username = admin, password = sky

Just change default channel he wil be nulling yours as you are both on the same, ive fixed a few peoples with same problem. Every box uses 6 by default, so 1 or 11 is your best bet.
http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ use this to see what channels are least used in your area.

Sky boxes are normally set to auto - at least the ones I've seen/worked with.
The D-Link one I've got here is set up like this from the factory.

That's horrid as far as broadband goes. The fact you have a high upstream that downstream suspects a wiring fault somewhere or a cacked up microfilter.

That's completely fucked. Do turn both the router and modem off for 30 seconds and see what it re syncs at (downstream and upstream). If its no better ring Sky up to get an engineer out - tell them that your Internet is slow and your downstream is syncing slower than your upstream.

Think you've got a problem with your connection. Get onto the phone with Sky and tell them to sort it out.
IIRC, my Sky router came setup with a WPA2 passcode so it's secure enough. If it's one of the Netgear DG834's they used to use a while back, you can limit the devices that connect to it using their MAC address. But I don't think that's the issue.

That's wank - you'll need a woman to phone up and to pass the "permission" onto you otherwise they won't speak to you at all.

Might be better off using the forum, isp don't do much when you phone them but when it's on a public forum it's a different matter.

Update
The man at sky said that when the flat upstairs moved in the line/speed was lowerd to do the work but has never been put back up? (We have a flat in a converted house)
Sounds like bollocks but he said he will get it sorted?
