I have this piece of crap XP box which I use as an FTP server which will be decommissioned in a few days because it's shite.
I did a remote desktop connection to it earlier from my MacBook Pro but something has caused it to hang (Norton I think) and it disconnected me.
Now it won't let me connect via RDC, is there any way I can remotely reboot it in its hung state? I'm guessing 'no'...

Have a look for psshutdown, there is a switch to force killing all apps, have used it succesfully in similar situations before.

Tried psshutdown, says it couldn't connect and to make sure the default admin$ share is enabled.
Not sure what you mean about the Push VNC thing John, is this something that has to be installed at the other end also (because I tried it and it came up with an error that it couldn't connect)?

It should install remotely, it doesn't always work though.

Authenticate to it via UNC first then kill it using shutdown
