Since making the switch to Chrome a few months back, i've noticed on a few sites Chrome produces garbled text (as you can see from the above screenshot). The sites render perfectly fine under Firefox and IE, and i can even copy and paste the garbled text it into Notepad/Word and it'll display fine.
Have attempted to Google this a few times but i've never managed to find a solution or the actual cause.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers Sam but have already tried changing the encoding, as well as the language options, before and it didn't do squat unfortunately

If it copies fine into notepad then it does suggest encoding issues.
You tried the fix on the boards where it says force encoding to Western (Windows-1252)

Does it make a difference changing the default fonts?
Have you got examples of sites that cause this problem?

Yup, doesn't make a difference -
As for sites, here is the one from the screenshots - http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/wordpress-404-pages-essential-tips-and-tools/ and it also does it on twitter -
Sam - Will have a look at changing the fonts, currently Chrome uses Times New Roman and Arial.
Edit - Been through all of the encodings on Chrome, nada

Dunno if this is any help, but on my Chrome (Mac OS X) checking the 'computed style' of the font-family in the CSS for both Twitter and that other link you gave both specify Helvetica before any other fonts like Arial etc.
Perhaps if you have Helvetica installed it might be corrupt?

The font files were probably corrupt so if you reinstall them all should be well.
