It's sluggish, when I say sluggish I mean downstream is 0.10mbps, normally my downstream is about 7mbps.
I notice there's network disruption down Kent way but I'm nr bham airport and I've reset the router to no avail, same readings as before.
Anyone else having problems?

I'm by B'ham New St. and it's ok at the moment (not as fast as it can be though), but it does go shit every now and again.

I've not known it this bad, i'm only 1 mile from the exchange, normally resetting the router sorts things outs, i'll give it a bit longer.
It's taking me back to days of dialup

Where are you getting the 0.1 and 7mbps from? A speedtest site?

Yeah, I know its not reliable but it's taking 20 seconds to load the Corsasport front page so I know it's slow

I always reboot when it goes slow.
Login the router and check what the down/upstream are syncing at.

<1 meg download and <1/2 meg upload, that's quite bad, no wonder pages are loading slow.
EDIT: If it's just something to do with the connection speeds you're getting then CS should load rather quick; even with a very slow 3G connection I get at work CS loads pages in a couple seconds.
Have a look on skyuser.co.uk see if there's anything reported on there

Sync speed 992 down is a problem somewhere if it's normally 7meg.
Plug router straight into test socket, if it's still the same it's a fault outside.
Any crackling on phone?

Not got a landline phone (although got a landline per se)
i'll try the socket. The connection always seems up and down, but tonight has been exceptionally slow, on both Laptop (wireless) and Desktop (Wired).

It's something specific to tiger. A nationwide broadband fault wouldn't be causing everyone's line to sync so slow.

For your line it should be Syncing WAY faster. What I'd suggest is plug your router into the master socket, remove any extension leads and then give Sky a ring and ask them to put you on DLM. Basically it will monitor your line over the period of a few days and set the best speed.
Your downstream noise margin should be around 7db, 13 is pretty high which means you have plenty of room for improvement.

Still really slow, only one thing plugged into line is the router.
Different figures downstream tonight though.
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6880 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.0db 13.0db
Noise Margin 15.9db 21.0db
Cant understand why its so slow when according to data above it seems ok?

Have you done the obvious and called tech support? Chances are there is a fault with the line/exchange/equipment.

You plugged your router into the test socket on the wall? Do you hear any noise on the line when you're on the phone to someone?

Sam: I'm currently in the test socket now and speeds are exactly the same. Can't try the noisy line as dont have a land line phone. I'm less than a mile to the exchange.
Dom: Not called Tech Support as don't have a landline and it will cost me a fortune from my mobile, hence why i'm trying to eliminate everything without calling them.
I dont understand why the router says the downstream is 6800kbs odd when any other speed test I try is only displaying about 120kbps. I have 3 PC's in the house and the data transfer is equally awful on all of them, one pc is wired and 2 are wireless. Does this suggest its external?

Router sync speed isn't always the same as what you end up downloading at.
If it's syncing at 6800kbps at the master socket but 980kps elsewhere that would suggest internal wiring.
If the internal wiring is dodgy the exchange equipment might have limited your download speeds to suit.

Can't you borrow/buy a landline phone to check? If you've got a noisy line you can get BT out to sort it for free.
If you ring Sky they will probably ask you the same question I reckon.

Basically, nothing in the house has changed, the internet will connect but at this limited speed. The router:
Doesnt seem to want to remain connected, the adsl light (4th one down) keeps alternating between green (connected) and amber (disconnected) when I connect to the network. It's been fine for 18 months until tuesday when this problem seemed to crop up.
I don't know if its relevent but they have been resurfacing the pavement down the road also this week?

Yeah I can probably get a landline phone to try next week.
