I'd say upgrade brakes no matter what purely because you're adding more weight and power.
At the end of the day you might be able to get up to speeds quick but you'd want to know you can come back down just as quick!
Keep fuel pump, rad, header tank, hoses unless you're buying a kit. Starter loom I think is the same. Not sure what else but there's loads of conversion guides that will tell you exactly what you do and don't need

cheers Darryl. thought so... just i know of a few people who've said 1600 brakes are practically the same and ran them there selves. so am i to upgrade the master cylinder?
there's only 4mm difference in the discs if you think about it

The piston is a bit bigger in the big block brakes, also the wider disc help to add cooling.

what other bits would i need to keep from the sport then?
fuel pump
starter loom?

say if i was to put a early XE into a pov spec... 1.2 8v or something easy to convert
should i keep the interior loom from the sport... lecky window motors etc...
