I've broken my iphone and still have about 14 months on the contract, so i need to replace it.
I dont want to spend more than £200, but obviously still want 3g, wireless etc. so i can still make full use of the contract.
What kind of thing should i be looking at?

if the internal circuitry is broken and you have 14 months left surely youve got warranty? take it to an apple store they'll just give you a new one

id still give it a go, majority of the time they just plug it in to see if they can restore it and if not they just swap it. they wont start taking it apart to see if warranty stickers are still there

Might try that tomorrow then, they will probably try to say it's been dropped or something.

Are there any big dings or scratches? If not just say you put it on to charge over night and when you came to it in the morning it was dead, you've tried restoring etc and with any luck they'll just give you another

Don't take it in.. Send it off. I ran mine over and put a full imprint of the road in it and they send me a new one

Sounds like a plan, just send it straight to apple then or vodafone?
I'll just have to go and get a cheap payg handset whilst i wait.

When you send it to apple they require some collateral in the form of cash via a credit card just in case you tell them its their fault its broken.

I sent mine off in aug 2011 and i had to give them my bank details. Maybe its changed since then? They sent the phone and i had to put mine in the box and give it back to the courier.
My nearest apple store is about 100 miles away.
