My brother just bought a 2003 vectra 1.8.. a few weeks ago now.. He does lots of motorway distance for work and just drove the car with checking fluids or whatever.
Last few days he keeps getting the oil light on and topping up the oil ... He got home yesterday and the engine sounds nasty! Rough idle, nearly stalling and the oil is REALLY black. I suggested a good service and clean the ICV.... Should this be enough to cure the issues??

Probably needs a service anyway, can't hurt to do that.

check the oil level sensor on the sump to makee sure its not faulty or leaking
