Who on here owns one of these bad boys? What are your thoughts on them?
I am thinking of selling a couple of computery things here to fund the £399 price tag of one of these, but one thing I wanted to ask actual owners of the iPad is how long does the battery last for? I know what it says on the Apple website but I just wondered how achievable the battery life stated is?
Also, one other question - I know the answer to this is probably no, but can you have say multiple user accounts on it like you can with OS X/Windows/Linux/whatever? Just thinking if me and my wife use it, can we set up our email accounts and bookmarks etc. under separate logins.

I have an edu account still (I've only just graduated so it should work) if you want the edu discount.

I have one, it's epic. The battery lasts a good 10 hours constant use. But it'll last a week easily if you only use it an hour a day or whatever.
Having seen the iPad 2 screen next to the 3, the difference is incredible. The 2 looks like it's had a cheap knock-off screen fitted in comparison. The camera is heaps better also.
The only thing you can have multiple accounts for that I've seen is facebook.

iPad 2 is in a different league to iPad 3 in terms of thinness/lightness.

Don't they check/ask for proof that you're part of that uni?

Only works if you're on a uni network / .ac.uk apple ID.

No it doesn't. As long as you can 'find' the URL then you can place the order. No need for a .ac.uk address

Just checked and I have to be on site for my edu login to work apparently, it'll be the same discount anyway so might as well use the above link - thought it'd be more than £12 discount though!

It's not much, compared to what you save on a Mac.

Got a new iPad back in May. Battery life is decent. I havent ever really thought too much about it but it must be close to the 11 hours quoted.
I never actually turn mine off.

A rough guestimate I use is 10% battery an hour with the screen on medium brightness and using the GPS. Just watching movies on it or browsing the web over wifi will see a bit better. As others have said, it lasts forever on standby which is great

Nah they're really shit at checking up on it. I posted the link on pistonheads last week and a couple of guys used it to save like £500 on a retina MacBook. And I bought my laptop in store with last years out of date worn out student card and they barely looked at it.
It's only 3% but you get a free £35 iTunes voucher with iPads before 21st of September.

A lot of people have been asking about it and Apple have mentioned they're working on it, so it might (chances are it'll be in one of the updates a few months later) appear in iOS6.
Edit - iirc, you can add multiple email accounts however and there is an option in the Mail app to switch between them. Obviously there's no privacy/security though.

Multiple email accounts is easy, but as said no privacy or locks against reading different messages.

Well privacy in this case isn't so much of an issue really as it'll just be me and my wife that use it, just thought it'd be good to have our own log ins so that we can read our own emails rather than having loads of email accounts on the same log in.
