Up to £500.
Recommendations?
Wont be for playing games but the usual internet, downloading etc, and using the likes of autocad, photoshop.
Not too clued up on what to look out for spec wise and i prefer PC's, they seem to have less issues, but a laptop i can take to work if need be.

i think you'll struggle for £500 if it needs a graphics card to run cad

Basic cad drawing isn't too demanding, depends what you're doing.

I'd recommend getting a desktop.
Cheaper to buy/build than a laptop, plus if you need to buy any funky graphics cards for CAD use or have lots of hard drives for storage etc. then that'll be easier to do.
I'd also recommend getting an SSD as your C: drive and keeping your files on a normal hard drive.

Although it's a great upgrade i would have thought he'd be better off spending that cash towards ram or a cad recommend graphics card.

Wouldnt be anything major on cad, anything that is will be done on the work PC.
The computer i have just now is about 5 years old and isnt the best of specs, but managed to run cad 2008 easily.
