Spotify absolutely rapes the battery. Normal MP3s are better for battery life.

I use spotify offline though, does that make no difference? I still don't think once I'd closed all apps that it should die from 17% in half an hour? I didn't use it once after that.

Nah, that doesn't look right for anything other than heavy GPS use I would say.

When I sent the second screen print to my brother he'd had his off charge since 6am listening to music and his was on 79% and he has his Bluetooth on as well. Do i take it to apple or carphonewarehouse?

I can go from full charge to 30% before arriving at work at 9am if listening to soundcloud whilst browsing twitter on the train. Music streaming apps absolutely hammer the battery.

Which case the music should be playing locally rather being streamed. Although you can make sure nothing 'funky' is happening by switching data/wifi off whilst using Spotify.

Even playing offline with no open data connections Spotify is a power-hungry SOAB in my experience. I assume it's using some proprietary software codec rather than the power efficient AAC hardware decoding you'd benefit from when using the built-in Music app.

No matter which app was used, 17% to empty in 30 mins on standby means something's not right.
