I think I posted something similar a while ago, but I've since changed ISPs to BT, so I wanted to ask the same question again.
I want to use a VPN service, something like HideMyAss, for accessing the US versions of Apple TV, Netflix etc.
The main things I access these services through are my Apple TV in the living room and Samsung Smart TV in the bedroom. Neither of which have the ability to access a VPN directly. So I think the best solution is to setup the VPN connection on the router, so that everything that connects to the router goes through the VPN.
So here are my questions:
1) Does the BT Home Hub 3 have the ability to connect to a VPN service like HideMyAss directly?
2) If not, what are my options for achieving what I want to do? Presumably I will need some different hardware?
Thanks,
James

Do you still have the old router you were using?

Yeh but that was an O2 Broadband router which also didn't support VPN. I never got round to getting it working before.

Ahh, I thought you had it working.
Getting a router which supports the VPN would be easiest option.

Can you get an ADSL Wi-Fi Router that supports it?
I vaguely remember something about needing an ADSL Modem and then separate wi-fi router that connected to the VPN.

If it's to get past the geo-blocking then just use a DNS service like www.unblock-us.com.
Otherwise you're going to need to stick something, Router/PC, in between your TV and ATV to act as the VPN tunnel if you want to go down that route (also recommend you look at mullvad.net for VPN).

Gives you access to DNS servers that circumvents geo-blocking and most devices allow you to manually enter DNS servers - it's the usual method for console users wanting to access US Netflix's.

Cool - I think it sounds like the best option for me. Will take a look at setting it up tonight.
Thanks.

I told you to use Unblock-Us the last elevinty times you asked and each time you said it wasn't what you wanted

At the time it wasn't what I wanted, because I was working for a consultancy and wanted to access UK services while abroad as well as foreign services while in the UK.
But now I'm not a consultant any more, so I only need to access foreign services from the UK.

If you're using a console you can just change the settings in the console menu to access the US version of Netflix etc.
