I'm looking at getting an S4 and have a few questions. Are they easy to unlock? Looking at a few blog articles it's just a case of entering the service menu and changing the settings in there - is that right? Also, do they have the same issues as other phones where they will only work on certain networks? I'm in contract on Three so would like to use my existing SIM on the new phone - does that restrict me on what phone I can buy if I get a second hand one?
Moving on, they do seem to have a lot of crap installed on them. I was interested in the Google Play Edition phone but was disappointed when I saw it was only available in the USA. Is it a simple job to install vanilla Android onto the phone? I don't really want to hack about with the phone and reduce it's reliability.
