I've just spent far too long watching youtube videos of old classics, what are some you remember playing lots of? it's amazing how bad they look now, yet back then it was fucking amazing.
I remember playing this with mates to see who could get the best score, remember the cheat on the 2nd level where you could get two weapons if you shot down the helicopter? think it was that anyway

Die hard on the PS is a classic, I remember thinking the time crisis style levels were amazing, and the fact that blood went on the windscreen in the driving parts lol

The original Leisure Suit Larry.
God that game was so difficult!
Also Police Quest and Space Quest.
Maniac Manison games were awesome as well, and then came the whole wave of point'n'click adventures.
A much newer game I've been thinking about lately is the original Carmagedon. Modifying a car to make the perfect killing machine was so insanely cool.
The original Duke Nukem platformers saw many hours wasted on them.
When the FPS's started to get big everything changed.
There was the whole 3D Realms family; Duke Nukem, Blood, Shadow Warrior (Redneck Rampage?) and then of course Doom.
Then Quake, Hexen etc.
Really I could go on.
