Anyone got this? Been playing it for around 8 hours now, gotto say its amazing, never really been into the series before and played Ground Zeros when it was a free for Gold download and liked the gameplay. Did a bit of reading on the backstory but seems its not that important in this one but the gameplay is fantastic, definately one of the best open world games ive played.

Played and loved them all. Won't get time to play until late this weekend. GZ game play was epic so I can see this being better. Game of the year I reckon.

Started playing GZ this weekend and really didn't enjoy it, got to the bit where you save paz and just found the whole thing tedious and boring.

Pretty much describes my experience with it.
Everything I've read says "play the game just as you like" but I felt it punished me for not playing 100% stealth, which grew incredibly dull, very quickly. Reminds me of Hitman Absolution in this sense.

Ground Zeros is very basic in comparison, its really just to familiarize yourself with the controls, of course the idea of the game is to be stealthy and that helps in certain sections but there have been times when ive just equipped machine guns and rocket launchers, the ones ive unlocked anyway and just blasted my way through and it feels very satisfying and fun, the only "punishment" you get is a low score at the end of a mission which doesnt effect anything. Also when youre playing stealthy and you get spotted and think fuck it im gonna kill everything and call in air support is great fun

When i watched a lot of the press release stuff and the play throughs it just seemed a little.. Well shit.
Whats happened to games as of late? I mean the new battlefront game from ea are not putting in dedicated servers because it might confuse some gamers with numbers like ping, what game mode to choose etc! I mean What the actual fuck socks..?,!??
This mgs5 also seemed a bit meh, with some balloon gizmo to take bodies away so they are not spotted, i mean come on.. Developers are getting lazier and lazier these days, have you ever noticed the angle of view the ai have? When your sneaking up you can litterally come from their 90degree and they dont see you..
Games these days are just like semi interactive movies, they dont take a lot of working out and are not really that hard (unless artificially made hard by increasing damage or increasing the enemy count etc).
I bet this current generation wouldnt be able to complete older games such as the original tomb raider..
p.s Dont even get me started on the hand holding.. Press A for this press X for that bullshit either. Lol

To be fair Chris, you do have a very specific taste in games that differs vastly from the majority of gamers.
You might think something is wrong with gamers or developers, but truth is you just have a particular taste that AAA developers don't target.
On the other hand I think almost every game you've praised for the past few years looks beyond dull.
Luckily gaming has become a big enough thing for minor developers doing more specialised stuff for minority crowds.
The point is, while MGS definitely isn't for me, there's simply no argument to be made that it looks shit.
Quirkiness, like the balloon thing or pooping dog, is sort of the series legacy.
The game itself looks to be polished to the highest standard, something every single review I've read or seen has confirmed.

I'm probably not even that. Only done a couple of missions. I do like how you can take a Base however you like. Bit restricted at the moment with the lack of gear but should get interesting if the mosin nagent tranq gun is available in this one. Love that thing

Glad there's finally a decent game out for the PS4! Reviews have been amazing... 10/10 on IGN and 9.5/10 on Metacritic.
Remember loving the first game; I bought a PlayStation just for it (after selling my previous one) haven't actually played one since I don't think.
Heard the story isn't great, but by the time I finish this, Uncharted 4 should be out. Unfortunately I'm only finding time for about an hour or two of gaming per week at the moment which is really annoying but hopefully I can make some more time for this one

SPOILERish
It's easy once you fuigure out what the crack is. You want to go right round to the top end of the Base and stick round the edge and into the lab, most northwest building, after that but leg it anti clockwise to the chopper.

Bought it the other day and am enjoying it so far. Alway liked the Metal Gears, especially the first one and Snake Eater.
Have been at it for a few hours, but with all the cut scenes etc I haven't got too far. Looking forward to making some progress tonight though.
Was only £15 new outa Argos for the PS3 version.

Oh really? Played mission 5 last night - still enjoying it, but getting slightly frustrated by my inability to take over a base/check point without alerting anyone.
Looking forward to improving my skills though.
