18 months ago I sold a focus to cartakeback and I got £160 for it.
I have another one to get rid of so got a quote today I got offered £35. I am going the phone around to get more prices but is that really the kind of money cars are going for now.

Scrap is on the floor and the banks are lending to idiots again which means second hand cars are worthless .

The mate was saying he only got about £40 for a diesel Corsa B, so must be the same all over the UK. Suits me as I'm looking to find a wee cheap Sport to do some tinkering with. Gotta be a good time to look out for Sports, SRis etc.

Scrap prices have dropped a lot recently, mainly due to the chinese market crashing - more info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Chinese_stock_market_crash
That said, I scrapped a car (fiat 500) with http://www.scrapcarnetwork.org and got offered £800 for it. Some sites will offer you an auction estimate rather than a straight scrap-only price, so it's good to check around.

the local merchant to me (well not "local" but not a days drive away) have always advertised £100 to scrap the car, £120 if you deliver it
they do all the paperwork you just sign the V5 handing it over, did it with the ex's car
http://www.asm-autos.co.uk/
not sure if those prices are still accurate given the discussion here but worth phoning around i would have thought....

Shop around, there is no "scrap price", it varies hugely between yards. Go to private yards and register, they pay more as they don't have to deal with pikeys.
