They occur when you have been building up engine heat and then stop at traffic lights.... you loose the flow of cold air through the engine bay and there you go... flatspot.

Would it be a good idea to wire a switch into the radiator cooling fan? Then you could flick it on if you wanted to introduce more cold air into the engine bay?

Just an idea....

build a metal shielding round the air filter and run a decent sized cold air feed, should do the trick!

its not practical in real terms.....

Just ripped the Piper X induction cone off my 1.2 16v, sold it and put the standard airbox back on! Its much better with standard kit, pulls a little harder. Ok so i dont get that little throaty noise but i dont care. My personal oppinion is that they are a waste of time on anything less than a 1.6 and i wouldnt bother unless i had a 2.0. Granted if one had a mappable ECU so that it could be tweaked to accomidate the induction kit it probably would be ok on a smaller engined car. Just my oppinion guys....

I did notice an improvement after fitting mine.
It would raise the rpm when trying to flog it up a hill, whereas with original kit it would run out of power completely!

That would simply cool the coolent and not the air. If anything it would draw air in from outside of the engine, pass it through the hot rad and heat it up!

As soon as you start moving there will be cold air.

you could try using the resonator this helps induct more air on the induction cycle, the resonator is a boost bottle like you use on 2 stroke engines
i used this for heat shielding the airbox

lol.

I don't think this guy even owns an engine, let alone a car. All we've had is random images of random parts in no particular order.

Once again 20valver - Show us a picture of your car's engine bay, we'll see how nice it is.
