probably better in general to get the done "the other way" however many peeps say that they havent had problems using the fibreglass panel, and of course some say they have had bother.
If its fitted right and well, you shouldnt have any problems. I'm doing mines using a panel within the next fortnight or so.

how u going to go about doing urs using a panel. glue?
and does the boot look like its too thick when its on.

Well, i'm going to use some sort of adhesive (not sure which yet, still to decide) then basically use p38 and p40 to smoothen around the edges into the boot itself.
Oh, and i'm going to trim the top bit which is suppose to go under the rear window. Trim it enough so that it sits just below the rubber seal around the window.

how much u pay for ur panel and wot u gunna do about the gap in the bottom, where the old recess was. u jus gunna leave it?

Yes, the panel covers the full lower are of the boot and a bit up the sides of it. I'll use expanding foam or so for the old recess. Going to use it for the bits up the side to, just dont want it cracking cos theres no support behind it.
I'll take a pic of the panel itself if yous want. Let me know.

To open and shut the boot requires installing a solenoid. Basically a wee device that when pressed, pulls upwards (or so) and opens the lock. Almost like moving the lock on the boot and putting it on your dash somewhere. But obviouslly using a different switch. Piece of piss to do. The solenoids are available from maplins for about a fiver or so as far as i can remember. However, MattyB (i think) sells solenoid kits, which include the solenoid, all wires, button etc and a step by step set of instructions to go about putting it in place, all for 20 bucks delivered to your door.
And no, you dont have to have a spoiler, makes no real difference.

Adam, what i intend doing is using some very fine mesh to cover those holes then filling over them using fibreglass filler (p40) before filling behind the panel with foam. Dont think its necessary, but as i said, i would much rather have a sturdy surface behind the panel, so that it doesnt crack as easy.

Was about 45 quid from ebay. plus 10 postage, then vat on that, so it was about 60 odd quid in total. I'm sure you'll can get it slightly cheaper if you look around e.g. Scott or Koni etc...

I am not too sure on how it sits, but i wouldnt imagine it to be a massive change as around the lights, the panel is very thin, not as if its a cm or so clonked on.
As for the two side bits, i've seen plenty where no spoiler is attached. The sides are simply gradually smoothed into the surrounding bodywork.
Regarding spoilers, i cant remember for sure how they are seen around those side areas. Dont recall seeing the spoiler smoothed in at these bits, just simply placed as if the panel was never there.
