do they all need the cigarette lighter connection or could i chop it off and use a straight P.Cont and ground/negative ???

i was gonna get some little LED spotlight thingies to shine on my sub. aslong as it dont need the ciggy lighter for voltage reducing or whatever then i'll buy some

I ran a wire from my battery and into 4 switches for all my neons and that and still have the use of the fag lighter if needed!!!!! Plus its individually fused so no hunting around for the right fuse you know which one it is!!!!!

youll break em! you could still wire it up to somewhere else as long as you keep the transformer in line (could just be hidden away somewhere)

is it possible to just wire up and solder straight onto the metal conductor bits on the fag lighter plug?

You'll have a job soldering onto that metal. Just cut the lighter adaptor off and open it up. If there is an in-line resistor then keep this and put it into the wire somehow. Resistors are used ya see, not transformers, as transformers only work with AC which a car battery is not, and LED's don't work very well with it either.
