OK my laydees install is going in pretty soon. (6th Aug) going to the same place who did mine (The Sound Gallery). OK their plan is to have both the mangets out in a really funky design. a bit hush hush you know
What will this do to the performance of the subs. (by the way its the RFR3112 subs. 12" Rockfords @ 1k RMS )
Will this sound better or worse than subs with the cone facing out????
Cheers guys
Steve.

im no expert, but as far as i know it should be the same either way, as long as the box is the correct size! make sure that when they work out the dimensions that they have compensated for the magnets not being in the box!!

Think they'll remember to work out the box sizes to compensate
You'll lose a little bit of SPL, a couple of dB's maybe, but what you lose in volume, you'll gain more of in looks and style, as those magnets are HUGE.
When's it gonna be finished?

Not as good as mine Nah, its a different type of system, but really good in its own right. Ive sketched a pic of a boot build for her car too.
Sub in bottom left, against seats, facing to the rear of the car, about 3/4 across, with the amps mounted on the same fibreglass moulding as the sub box. One amp sat 45degrees clockwise next to the sub and the other about 10 degrees anti-clockwise underneath it.
A screen on the far right of the boot, halfway back and a yellow top angled facing towards the centre rear of the boot.
The EQ behind it all in its own fibreglass mould.
Its bit complex, will try to redraw it in time for donny south, and do it properly this time! I know what i mean, and it looks wicked! But if i did an SPL van, wouldnt be able to do the corsa aswell.
Maybe next time...............

When i get a proper job, im wanting a few people to chip in and we design and build a silly SPL van. Maybe from an old Escort. Then enter it into silly little competitions. (under novice) and slam people

I was trying to do that a while back on talk audio, not much interest though. The main thing to concentrate on when building an SPL van or car is to make sure theres plenty of power (couple or three 100 amp alternators) a high power battery or two for each amp and the sound deadening. Concrete is the best bet and a nice strong box from double skinned inch thick MDF. Then take the choice of kit from there. Look at the diferent classes, what the amp/sub restrictions are in each class and what other people there are competing in particular classes, e.g. extreme 3-4 doesnt have many competitors that i can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah OK. BUT i would like to enter smaller classes than the xtreme classes.
Try novice first. Then work my way up into the "big boys class"

Dynamat extreme throughout, one layer of.
About 4000RMS and 2 x 12" RF subs. street 1-2 and about 155dB. As short a car as possible to keep cable runs from the engine bay as short as possible. Cheap nova?
