does anyone know about the legalitys of window tinting. ive heard that certain windows can only be tinted so much before they fail the MOT.

Fronts can only be 35%
not too sure about rears it may have no limit

There is a couple of places in Sheff that do window tinting, I can not recommend any but give em a call, Hope it helps

WWW.TINTR.CO.UK - Richard is based in Nottingham, he charges approx £175 a car and uses top Llumar window film, its quality. Ive had mine done over two years now and its still MINT! He'll do whatever shade you want and where you want it too.

it wont fail an mot theres no test for window tints just atrol cars are doin alot of testing and u can ge an on the spot fine.

CRB 553, tell me more bout this on the spot test???
im thinking getting mine done 40% all round?
is the on the spot test accurate i mean will it detect a 5%more tint? if i get caught and tested will their only be a fine??? or points too???

There was talk of an accurate device used to measure the light getting through so probably to the % accurate...
Not sure on the penalties, a fine i should imagine but there was some talk of not letting you move your car at all an having to get it towed, dunno whether that was for repeat 'offenders' tho...

i mean it only counts on the front windows, u can jus drive with the windows down until u get it sorted!!

some traffic police cars have light meters to test your tints they are few and far between tho u can only get a fine and u wont get towed if you remove the front tints there and then as there the only 1s that are illegal to have darker than 35%
