i have a alpine head unit 4x60watt. i got some audiobahn front door speakers, 85rms, and some jbl 100rms 6x9's and thats it, anyway after playing my tunes on high volume for about 20-40mins, the sound starts to sound well SH!T like its getting strained or somthing. but then if i turn it down for a bit then back up it seems ok for a while.
whats going on?? because its really doing my nut in.

well im no pro, but if the problem happens after being used loud for a long time, and goes away after, then it might be that. External amplification is always better anyway. (unless u get a really shitty amp! )

the heat sinks are only so big, and in a confined space too it might be that. Plus 60w x 4 is quite a lot for a head unit

Yup its more than likely the amp clipping so much and overheating so = more distortion. With the kind of speaker power you have external amplification will help greatly.

nah the alpines have protection from low battery power as well as many other units. They will automatically shut off.
