right a mate has a 1.6 saxo vtr, has a 75 bhp nitrous express kit on the car!
has it set up with a solenoid so that when he floors it the nos works on how far he pushes the pedal down!
he has done this rather the button and all the nos at once as that is more dangerous on a standard engine!
nemesis fitted this kit and cost £750
he is offering it to me for a very very cheap price as he is selling the car and will also get nemesis to take it off and they will fit it to my corsa
which has forged mahle pistons and arp conrods and bolts, also mantzel inlet manifold, claimed bhp of 145bhp,
would this be advisable to fit to mine? maybe a 50 bhp jet? thats 195bhp or 220bhp
he he he

The american kits are generally low quality and have a higher risk of engine failure than the UK kits.
Why have you fitted forged pistons with your engine spec? Are they high compression items? What rods do you have? As ARP only make bolts, not rods.
That set up sounds dodgy as hell!!!!
Putting any amount of N20 into your engine when not at wide open throttle is plain stupid!
A straight 50bhp should be ok if you use decent plugs. Any more you'd probably want a controler.

No, he hasn't got ARP conrods. Just the bolts, Mahale Pistons. The bloke that owned it before him had a 1.4 16v, and got the 1.6, and done the work on it fitting uprated pistons. Setup isnt' dodgy at all, the guy that owned it loved that car to bits and it went through about 5 different changes. Nice bloke too.

Im not saying he didn't love his car and isn't a nice bloke.
I'd never put n2o through my engine at part throttle. Would put lots of strain on things.
How does this system work anyway? Have I miss understood

Oh yeah, i totally agree, im not a lover of NOS at all. Went out in a saxo with 50bhp jets at the Corsa Vs Saxo day, at top speed the engine sounded like it struggled when he turned it off, it did work, but it wasn't that impressive at all.
Mind you, Brads car is running on 19"s, so would probably help. Wouldn'y have it linked to the pedal though, u'll be refilling it every 2 days.
If your gonna do it, get it through a progressive controller. Speak to Grigglet33 about it as he's just getting some on his astra

ive never heard of a variable 'solenoid' type button under the pedal...usually u just have a push to make microswitch at full throttle and a progressive controller if u want.....

the saxo has it so he turns the nos on, then when he floors it it kicks in, meaning doesnt have to push the button,
sorry im not a mechanic,
cheers daimo for helping with the spec,
just offered it for £300, junior on here selling a head and piper cams for £300, could be the safer option

Thats how all N20 systems work. They all have a wide open throttle switch so that its only activated when its safe too (at wide open throttle)

i thought 1 of the ways was to a) turn on the nos b) activate a switch c) the nos starts when the trottal is fully open?

Yes, thats how they all work as far as I know. It would be sensible to also have a push to make switch on the steering wheel that needs to be held down as well for safety. Dont think these come as standard though.

just out of curiousity, why does it need to be full throttle?

Else more strain is put through the engine suddenly. The sudden torque increase would be immense, risking breaking things. Same reason why you shouldn't use it at low rpm.

well all i know is the saxo its on, the nos comes in when he puts foot to the floor, not half throttle or full revs when he puts foot to the floor,
im more inclined towards the head and cams, at least they wont be unsafe to use
