my car has had this problem for a while, it keeps juddering then cutting out on me, then when i try and start the engine it doesnt start, but if i pump the gas whilst trying to start it it will start but wont idle without stalling and sounds ruff as fcuk, the little orange light comes on the dash to, but it does fix itself and after like 30mins or so it will run fine, iv had it plugged into diagnostics machines 3 times now all come back no problems, any ideas whats wrong?
its 1.416v ecotech, oh and its been suggested by a "mechanic" that cause it has a de-cat the gases my be backing up into the engine which may cause this problem, but iv never heard of this happening b4.

why dont u just do the paper clip trick and read the ECU codes and find out the proper problem, and stop guessing.
they will be recorded if u say the orange engine mang light comes on.....

as i said the car has been plugged into diagnostic machines 3 times now and it comes back blank, no fault codes are being stored for some reason.
its running at just below 90 after about 30mins which is fine

ECU Fault Codes

Initiation of diagnosis. n/a
Oxygen sensor No change in voltage/open circuit.
Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) Low voltage
Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) High voltage
Knock signal circuit n/a
Knock control processor n/a
Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) Incorrect RPM signal
Throttle Potentiometer Sensor (TPS) High voltage
Throttle Potentiometer Sensor (TPS) Low voltage
Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) No speed signal or low voltage
Injector valve Low voltage
Fuel pump relay contacts Contact problem
Fuel pump relay Low voltage
Fuel pump relay High voltage
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor High voltage
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor Low voltage
Idle stepper motor Poor or no idle speed control
Amplifier control signal, cylinders 2 and 3 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) High voltage
Amplifier control signal, cylinders 1 and 4 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) High voltage
Primary ignition (distributor systems) High voltage
Oxygen sensor Air/Fuel mixture too lean (weak)
Oxygen sensor Air/Fuel mixture too rich
Amplifier (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) control signal (A+B) High voltage
Linear exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) position n/a
Battery supply to Engine Control Unit (ECU) High voltage (greater than 17 volts)
Engine Control Unit (ECU) Defective ECU (disconnect and reconnect (ECU), then recheck for fault codes). Memory failure
Secondary air pump relay Low voltage
Secondary air pump relay High voltage
Idle Carbon Monoxide (CO) potentiometer n/a
Engine Control Unit (ECU) fault Renew Engine Control Unit (ECU)
Air control soleniod Low voltage
Air control soleniod High voltage
Fuel tank vent valve (FTVV) Low voltage
Fuel tank vent valve (FTVV) High voltage
Amplifier control signal, cylinders 2 and 3 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) Low voltage
Amplifier control signal, cylinders 1 and 4 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) Low voltage
Primary ignition (distributor systems) Low voltage
Throttle position sensor (TPS) Hose broken
Air Flow Sensor (AFS), hot wire meter (air mass meter) Signal is outside normal operation parameters (out of range)
Air Flow Sensor (AFS), hot wire meter (air mass meter) Faulty air mass meter signal, incorrect frequency
Air Temperature Sensor (ATS) (MPi only) Low voltage
Air Temperature Sensor (ATS) (MPi only) High voltage
Amplifier (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) control signal (A+B) Lead interruption, open circuit
Torque control (Automatic Transmission (AT) only) Low voltage
Torque control (Automatic Transmission (AT) only) Continuous
Injector valve High voltage
Immobiliser No or wrong code
Immobiliser No signal
Immobiliser Wrong signal
Air conditioning cut-off relay Low voltage
Air conditioning cut-off relay High voltage
Camshaft sensor Faulty hall effect sensor or circuit
Quad drive module (in ECU) n/a

The ECU only stores fault codes for wrong siginals or no signals (see 83, 84 & 85) if the immobilser is malfunctioning then its jus sending out random signals not wrong ones.
