Author 1.4 16v Speed problem

when i boot it and the revs get to about just above 5thousand is goes really flat and struggles to pull through the rest of the revs, this dosen't always happen though it can be fine, seems to do it after i have been giving it some for a while. its decatted as well.
any help please

they usually hit a flat spot around there mate.

not that this helps you prob as such, but yeah, as u say also, mine pulls fine between 5 and 6 thou so its def a prob rather than just norm. I try not to take mine to those sort of revs too often anyway dont wonna wreck the engine!!

its a 16v engine its meant to be up at the limiter at least once a week its prob choked get out and boot its erse

serviced last week oil (gtx magnetec) and plugs. problem geting worse, serious power loss now

well it should pick up at higher revs, its 16v, as skarkie said! try cleaning ur air filter, or re-set the ecu!

id check the plugs were fitted right and check the leads too

where can i find the fuel filter, also its only started since i put some fuel system cleaner called fuel guard.

IT's found under the car just behind the drivers side, (don't quote me could be passangers side) it's about the size of a can of bean, abotu 7-12 for a new one, if that's blocked the you'll find the engie won't get the fuel

Peak power is not far from 5000rpm on an x14xe.

So i doubt it will be pulling much past there anyway

Mines pulls all the way to the 7750 limiter on the std cams thank very much

j1400 Peak power is at 5800rpm.

on a std inlet and exhaust set up as soon as you change the exhasut maniold it will move it. as will the inlet being modded (more so)

ture I didn't but the std engine don't go that high doens't even hit 6700 really.
