Got a Corsa 1.4 SRi B, car doesnt start!! Done a compression test, 1 and 2 have no compression at all - what could be wrong? Head Gasget, piston rings or something>??

what happened last time you drive it, did it suddenlys die, or has it just decided not to work on this occasion, could be gasket, do a wet test to check the rings

Its not been working for a while but i have decided to sort it this week.
Done a wet test too and it made no difference to the compression>?!

your cam belt aint snapped has it, could have holed a pison, or ya valves are bent and stuck open, or its just a gasket, whip the head off and have a look

I have had the top off and cam belt looks fine, valves seem ok, havent got down to the pistons yet but will do soon, i recon its just the head gasget?! How much is a head gasget?

head gaskets are cheap, normally about £30, but ya gotta get new head bolts £10 and cam belt £16ish to do this properly, might get away with changin other gaskets like top inlet manifold one etc

Not done this before but it cant be that hard to do?? How long does it take to change the head gasget then and is it a hard job?

it aint too bad man, if ya aint done it before give ya self a full day, just remember to watch the timing side of things lock the cams and the crank at TDC so ya know ya wont get it wrong when ya put it all back. All i would say is get a torx sockets set, the star shaped ones, and a tourqe wrench with the torque settings to hand and its quite straight foward

depends if the head needs skimming, i would say a garage would charge about 250-300 for this job
