i took my car to a garage cus one cylinder was giving out a low compression. so the guy put a little oil down for some random reason. exhaust was smoking and popping like hell as i revved it but also the Engine Management light came on and has never gone out since. what could it be? i reckon its the lambda sensor messed up, is it? and if so, where is the thing located?

on mine (C16XE) the lambda sensor is screwed into the underside of the exhaust manifold.
The guy put oil down the cylinder to see if the rings are at fault. This is the standard test for testing rings.
If your ECU light is on read the fault code yourself. Learn how here
