sitting in traffic last night and my car wouldnt go into 1st, every other gear is fine and it only starts to get stiff when im sitting still in traffic when the engines heating over 90c its fine when i drive it around down, reverse has started to occsionaly crunch as well but goes in and drives fine

first thing to do is check the gearbox oil level while your at it have a look at the linkage

how much is a new box?
how do i check the oil level in the box, dont think thats been topped up/replaced in ages

theres a level bung on the passenger side near where the drive shaft comes ot of its an 8mm allen key i think, obviously if no oil starts to drip out its low, what gearbox is it f13/f15?

well ive got a spare gearbo from my 1.4 sport would need to swap ur linkage thou as i put an astra one on its quite easy to do

hardly did it at all yesterday, drove fine evreywhere apart from when i sat in heavy traffic when my engine got warm
dont understand it :S
how much would it be to have the oil topped up
